What to expect when landing in Puerto Vallarta? (after global pandemic)

Puerto Vallarta & Tours Blog What to expect when landing in Puerto Vallarta? (after global pandemic)

If you are an active traveler, or if you had plans to visit Puerto Vallarta before the COVID-19 disease came into place, you are probably wondering what to expect when landing in Puerto Vallarta now that it’s already open again as a tourist destination.

Puerto Vallarta has been operating exclusively for essential travel for about a month, but recently the restriction on non-essential travel was lifted, thus increasing tourist traffic at the Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR). This was possible thanks to the fact that Mexico is taking a step forward in certifying its main tourist destinations; Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Los Cabos, with the Safe Travels, guarantee seal provided by the WTTC to those destinations that adhere to the hygiene and safety guidelines established by the same institution in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).

That being said, what to expect when landing in Puerto Vallarta?

The first thing you should know is that the use of a mask is necessary practically at all times of human interaction and that the destination is not yet operating at 100% of its capacity. Both hotels and restaurants, as well as means of transport and public beaches, operate in a capacity established by the local government to guarantee the health of visitors and residents. In restaurants, as well as in hotel lobbies, it’s possible to see the application of new hygiene and social distancing measures. This way, you will not have to wear a mask while enjoying dinner at a restaurant, but you will not put your, your relatives, or local workers’ health at risk.

Once you board the flight to Puerto Vallarta, you will (mostly) be given a survey regarding your health and travel habits. This is in order to know if you have presented symptoms of illness or if you have visited a destination with a high number of confirmed cases.

When you get off the plane, your temperature will be measured, you will pass through sensor cameras, be given antibacterial gel, and be asked to respect social distancing rules.

Once you have claimed your luggage, go to the exit labeled with “Shuttles”. Just right there, a representative of Puerto Vallarta Airport Transportation will be waiting for you to board your previously disinfected transportation. At the time of getting in the vehicle, a brief but effective process of disinfection of your items and clothing will be done.

Generally speaking, that’s what you can expect when landing in Puerto Vallarta.
Welcome! Enjoy your trip and take care of your health at every moment.
